In The House

We closed on the house a couple of weeks ago and have been moving. Two days before closing, Josh got covid. I tested negative when he tested positive. But I tested positive the next day. Then my parents and Zach got it. We are all better now. We lasted more than two years. But this is what happens when you let your guard down, even a little.

Closing day meant Josh and I, still quarantining, got time in the house to start moving and setting up. We left in the afternoon so my parents and Zach can take care of some things then came back after they left. Josh took that whole week off last week and we moved almost everything. There are some things left in the garage at the condo.

On closing day, Josh's dad put a banister in to the basement. He has been a tremendous help with a few things. My parents have also been tremendously helpful. Last week involved fios installation, a lot of handymen assembling a bunch of furniture, the electrician who has more to do, and the plumber helping attach a new grill to the natural gas line.

We didn't actually sleep here until Saturday the 14th. But we did start having our meals here the Sunday after closing. It started with burgers on the day we brought a table and chairs. Dinner went so well, we brought the rest of our food and kitchen supplies and started having all of our meals here. We came early in the morning and were done for the day after dinner.

I put post-it's on the walls. Each post-it had the name of a painting on it and was placed where that painting might go. A few were moved. But after a few days, I hung almost all of the paintings. I love all of them! We did have to get three new ones.

This is home. It feels and looks like our home. We are ready to take over Thanksgiving now. We already have routines we like. As for the condo, it's cleaned and being painted. There are a few minor repairs coming then it won't be long before the condo is listed for sale.

I looked around the empty condo, partially painted, on Wednesday. It's a nice place. I would still choose it if we were looking for a condo. But we really needed a lot more space. The house is perfect for us. Zach has the second floor to himself and loves it! This is comfortable, home. People keep asking when they can see it. We're working on that part. We're still bringing things from the condo garage to the house basement (and garbage). In the meantime, we're home!
