Election 2020: Decided

I said this in 2016 and I say this now. Voters have chosen our next president. We just don't know who that is yet. Over and over I read about the chase for undecided voters. In reality, this is a polarized country and a small percentage is left who are still deciding.

That's not news. Few are surprised by that, if any. That's why I haven't posted lately. I haven't been able to say something new. I don't bother doing a post if I would just be repeating what is written in many other places. That's why I haven't done anything on the post office. The safest way to vote right now is through a drop box. A lot of places make them hard to find. It's worth the effort to get to yours no matter what! But, that's not a new idea. It's easy to do in our county and plenty of people have been seen voting already, including us! Hopefully, voter pressure will improve that situation elsewhere.

Sometimes we sign hunt. We look for signs of the politicians we support while taking a walk or a drive. It's a nice way to roughly get an idea of what the election for your area will look like. But, my area is not representative of those tight swing states. What do the signs look like in these neighborhoods? That's probably the only poll that would actually be accurate. Counting all of the houses with a least one yard sign for each candidate in the entire country.

A few days ago, Josh and I were on a drive. He took me through a close town he frequently delivers in. It's a heavily republican town. Yes, Trump signs well outnumbered Biden signs there. But, we noticed something else. There were a lot fewer signs in general this year then there normally is in that town. Clearly, a certain percentage of these people are supporting Biden but, don't want their Trump-loving neighbors to know. How many people are in that situation across the country?

There must be other's like me. Who are kind of relieved to have sent their ballots in already (hopefully, drop box). Once you are confident in your decision, why wait, risking your health, until a specific day? We have become such a partisan country. Various ways to vote early is one way to acknowledge that. We might even be able to get election day results sooner if early votes are accepted and counted before election day. If the system gets better funding and development, this could lead to faster and more complete results overall.

I don't think there will be many new revelations to sway the few undecides. A lot of undecides are leaning a certain way but, they want to think about it more. It's a little less then a month away. A lot can happen in that time. But, Trump will still have done everything he did. Will a new stimulus check really help you forget all the damaging choices he has already made? That check is nice, why didn't they approve the Heroes Act so you could get it in May? Why did Trump let so many things run out devastating too many Americans first? That check is nice, why is he considering it again two days after walking away from talks because Pelosi refuses to release businesses from liability? That liability protects workers!

Honestly, I want to list the many reasons to vote for Biden. It's a really long list. But, there isn't a point to it. There is a strong likelihood you already know who you are voting for. There is a likelihood you already sent in your ballot! The real question is, what is your reason for your choice? Trump has literally screwed everything up. The country was heading for a recession starting in January of 2019. That is according to multiple economists using hard data. That is mostly due to his tariffs. Are you are telling yourself you like how he handles the economy? Then you either have not been following economic reports or you are trying to think of a reason that would be acceptable and not make you sound awful.

Do you want to fix the country (Biden) or break it more (Trump)? That's your vote. Biden has spent his entire adult life serving his country. Trump, even as president, quite openly only serves himself. We can't fix what is broken without listening to each other again. If we really want to make America great again we need to start with a President who serves everyone. That's Biden! I am proud of the republicans I know who are openly supporting Biden. It means they are prioritizing what is best for the country. I have made my decision, you probably have too.
