It Was An ACCIDENT Mommy!!!

Accidents, two year olds have them frequently with varying degrees of severity. Sometimes it's fall related, sometimes it's spill related, and sometimes it's play related. Zach's been klutzy lately as his body is moving faster then his legs and he's no longer paying attention. It's not strange to hear him say "band aid" for cuts (sometimes that already have a band aid) or "kiss" for little bumps that hurt.

He says "sorry" for potty related accidents. We are trying the underwear and sometimes lazy shorts at home so he adjusts to that extra step of removing them before using the potty. It's the next step in the "baby steps" we are taking with potty training. Next is underwear out of the house beyond just Grandma and Pop's house, then no diaper nap, then no diaper at all. Needless to say this can take a while since we are waiting for the accidents to almost completely stop before moving on to the next step.

But this is a completely different type of accident. Tonight was date night so he was with Grandma and Pop. Uncle Hugh hung out too since it's a Wednesday. Apparently, Zach was playing with the phone. Any parent is probably listing bad possibilities like some foreign country dialed by accident. My son called 911. When he hung up, a Cop called my mom back and after she explained it was probably him (he was with my Dad with the phone play) the Cop said he had sent someone to check on us when no one said anything and the phone was hung up right away. Mom waved the slow moving police officer over and explained to him what happened.

Now, I'm not stupid. If the police come out for misleading contact information can't you get a ticket or arrested for that? They don't want pranks so there are laws to prevent them. Luckily, they understand that a two year old holds no malice. He was just playing.

He's learning his numbers and has had an increased interest in phones lately. Mostly, it's the pictures in my cell phone. Mostly, he hits several numbers just for fun (no we haven't heard, Chinese, Russian, or Arabic yet). Those calls would be expensive but not lead to the possibility of an arrest. The police have important things they need to take care of and this was a waste of their time. Zach's too young to understand what that means.

Adventures in Parenting. At least some accidents make interesting stories. No accident resulted from him doing this...............................................................
