Snuggling With Mommy

When Zach was first born we snuggled a lot. The night he was born I fell asleep with him snuggled in my arms. For eight months we would snuggle at his morning nap time. For a while there, he even had to watch me set up to snuggle after making the bed in the morning. The blankets had to be in a special order. At around eight months old he started to roll in his sleep and after a half an hour would complete his nap in his crib. Then the snuggles ended. I had chalked it up to something he had officially grown out of.

A couple of months later, at ten months, he was playing on my bed and to prevent him from falling off I picked in up, rolled to my back while holding him, and kissed him until he passed out. We snuggled in an odd position for half an hour. I again thought that would be it. Again, I was wrong.

Last week, he walked into my room after I opened his room door so I could put my PJ pants on. He wanted to crawl into bed so I let him. He rolled to his back to my belly position and fell back asleep for half an hour. IT WAS HEAVEN!!!!!

I've always been a huggy and snuggly person and had settled for snuggling with him on my lap while watching PBS. I prefer the other way. He loves the comfort of being held by Mommy sometimes. I remember when he was about a month old he fell asleep on a Saturday without the snuggle part. Josh could tell I missed my snuggle and carried a sleeping Zach in for a snuggle. Zach smiled the minute he was in my arms. Here's a picture of the two of us just now, him on my lap.
