Get Ready For Your Close-Up

When Zach was born we started to joke that I'm the Mamarozzi. He just is too cute! My heart broke in February 2010 when he was 8 months old and my computer crashed. I lost most of the pictures from that month. For Zach's first year I sent out a monthly newsletter on his development complete with an average of 6 pictures. Josh saved all of them so I only have those six from his 8th month. This post is on observation of the changes in taking pictures as kids get older.
Newborns are so easy to take pictures of. They lie where you put them and look at you like "There Mommy goes again". Zach was extra adorable so I had fun. During the day sometimes we would have "photo sessions" where I laid him on my bed and clicked away. At three months old he was able to sit up in his booster seat and that became the "photo session" location of preference. His bouncy seat/my lifeline was another favorite spot.

Most of the early pictures were an attempt to get a good Birth Announcement. He was 6 weeks and 4 days old when we finally got a good one. He just kept wiggling. This is it.

At about four months pictures got interesting. He rolled over for the first time at 19 days old (same day I fit into my pre-pregnancy cloths) but around 4 months he loved tummy time. Whenever we tried to get a picture of him, he decided to "sky dive". It was funny. Usually, it's accompanied by a smile.

He loved his play gyms. He had three in various rooms. I took pictures of him in all of them playing with his favorite things from them. This is the first time he wiggled himself out of a play gym. 4 months and 1 day old.

Getting his first Christmas picture was interesting. We tried various outfit combinations. In an earlier post, I posted both last year and this year's Christmas pictures but below is an attempt that is cute but didn't work from 2009. He could only sit up with help by then so I had to prop things all around him. This one is a favorite of him on my bed.

In December, when he was 6 months old we got the highchair since he outgrew the bouncy seat then. Mommy assembled the new high chair and it became another photo session location. This picture was taken in a set of about ten. He looked so small in it then now he's growing out of it quickly.

He started to pull himself to standing at 8 months and crawl at 9 months. That's when pictures became hard because he'd crawl over and use my leg to pull to standing and reach for the camera. He still loves to play with the camera. There are a lot of close up and reaching pictures from that stage. Those were deleted. It became hard to get a good one. Here is a good one though. He was nine months in this.

Most pictures from then looked like this from when he was 10 months old. He is reaching to the camera in this but you can't see that part.

Now that he can walk and run they are harder to get. He just runs away when uninterested in "mamarazzi". This is the hardest stage so far. If he's in a goofy mood, he'll pose.
