Yes, I did it again. The Red Bulls (soccor) have played two games and have one scheduled for Saturday. The only one of those games we saw on tv was the first one as a temporary contract with MSG. The last game wasn' televised.
I missed soccor. We started following it in June. Actually, last April we tried to but we have a tv preference order for games that used to be Giants, Yankees, Devils, Nets, and Red Bulls. I get tired of the high concentration of Yankee games in a long period of time even sitting outside with my wine on 55-85 degree weather as of 9pm. In June we modified the order to: Giants, Red Bulls, Yankees, Devils, Nets. The only exceptions being if there is significant losing by a high order team.
I like learning about soccor in both the MLS (Major League Soccor) and the International Futbol. It's funny when Zach sees a soccor ball and calls it a futbol because we can't tell his he's wrong so we have to explain the difference. He loves American Football and gets excited at Giants emblems. Maybe I need to make another phone call, to the judge handling the NFL/NFLPA negotiations.
That's why you can thank me for being able to watch the Red Bulls on TV. I called the dude in charge of the negotiations yesterday and left a message. That's right, before the third regular season game. I reminded him that in this area, it's tough for soccor to compete with other sports especially baseball (note that today was opening day for baseball). I reminded him that people will move on to other sports and tickets will be harder to sell without the tv as an outlet. I also talked about Steve Cangalosi
Steve Cangalosi is the announcer/MC for Devils games at MSG. It was a surprise that he did the Red Bulls too when we started following it. He is the recorded message on the Red Bull phone line. I mentioned how much I like him and how he does the Devils too and that my son is named after Zach Parise of the Devils. I wonder if that influenced anything?
Josh says I should stay away from the phone. My mom would be mortified (embarrassed isn't strong enough a word). However, this is who I am and I'm proud of it. Apparently, it's productive. In that message I reminded the dude that MSG might be greedy because of 'Melo on the Knicks who they show. It might have helped understand the greediness. However, I think a difference maker was mentioning Baseball. Yankees won the opener by the way 6-3.
Again.....you're welcome.
