Officially Potty Training!!!

After switching to Easy Ups a few days ago I have been having trouble finding a way to get Zach to go on the potty. We've tried moving it away from the open window, in front of the tv, away from the tv, with a sippy cup, every hour just to try, me with him, me away from him. All we had gotten was yesterday he peed on a book while on the potty. It was frustrating and I stupidly tried stricter ways this morning ending in tears for me due to his definance and my parent's definace in helping in any way by continueing the training when they babysit.

Then my mom stepped in. We were planning on going home after lunch and I was in the bathroom myself when my mom offered him a choice "diaper or potty Zach". Holding both out to him. He choose the potty and after she left the room quickly peed. He took great pleasure in our excitement over it. He doesn't understand sticker, he needs immediate reward. All I've got is letting him run around naked for a while for now but we'll think of something.

Tonight he repeated it again. Josh held out a diaper and put the potty in his room in an easy to sit place. Zach didn't hesitate in choosing the potty and again immediately peed. And continues to run around naked and happy. He probably won't always choose potty over Easy Up but the more positive reactions he gets from it the more he'll choose it. He can't stop smiling and hugging us. Mark this date: February 10, 2011 (originally around 1). I hope my mom is proud that her approach is the one he's responding too.

tonight 20 months 5 days YEAH!!!

April 19, 2010 (10 months 2 weeks) he was letting me know he needed a diaper

June 12, 2009 (1 week) That's a Newborn sized diaper looking big. Man was that long ago!!!
The potty picture isn't a time he actually went. It's a photo op he quickly complied to when I said I needed to take a picture for this blog. He was playing with the box at the time and since he was still naked, I figured this was the best picture for the internet. He usually sucks on a birp cloth tag. It was the easiest picture to take of him since before he could walk. Perhaps before he could crawl. I remember changing his diaper at 8 months (last February) thinking "a year until potty training". I should have written down the date I said that.

It's a proud day for Mommy. And busy since he's home with Mommy and I have to periodically ask him if he as to go and remind him about the tingle for pee pee and lump for poopy!!!
