"President Biden" and "Vice President Harris". That sounds beautiful to me. It also sounds beautiful to the wave of supporters celebrating across the country yesterday. I cried watching their speeches last night. Oh, the hope! No one knows American government like Joe Biden. He is the only one who can right the ship Trump put a hole in and has caused to sink. This is why we need our presidents to have at least SOME experience in government!
In February I did a blog post called "The Biden Two-For". In it, I said, "The path to the first woman president runs through Biden." Now, that path is wider. It's easier for Americans to envision a woman president because we are about to have our first woman vice president. Women are full of joy and hope. Little girls are looking at Kamala and saying, "I can do this too."
President-Elect Biden likes being a part of history. He was part of our first black president's administration as vice president and is part of the first female vice president's administration by having declared last spring his running mate will be a woman.
It's not a coincidence he choose Vice President-Elect Harris. He is unlikely to run again in 2024. His vice president is likely to be treated like the incumbent in the 2024 election. She will have learned from the best and will be considered hard to beat. He choose the person he thinks has what it takes to be our first female president. No one knows what it takes to be president like Joe Biden. Not even our actual current president. Kamala Harris will be given opportunities to add strong accomplishments to her resume over the next few years. Biden is more then happy to help her succeed. THAT is the example we need.
I was surprisingly calm on election day. My my OCD and Anxiety I thought it would be bad. But, I knew we wouldn't know the results on Tuesday so I checked. But, was able to stay focused. I checked every day since. But, I knew it wouldn't be that day until Saturday. On Saturday morning, I woke up knowing that would be the day. During lunch we heard the news. Our great day turned into a fantastic day!
We are still relying on Georgia voters to give us the Senate in January. No, President Biden is not going to pack the supreme court. In all likelihood he'll add term limits. But, that benefits both parties. Not just democrats. Biden is not a socialist. Too many confused him and Bernie. But, if you watch MSNBC or CBS instead of Fox News. you know that already.
President-Elect Biden is a unifier. He compromises and negotiates. His agenda is for helping everyone, not just the ultra rich. Are the rich afraid? They should be. But, most business owners will end up being helped not hurt by his policies. Chase and Bank of America are screwed along with Jamie Dimon. But, if you aren't a multi-millionaire and don't run a massive corporation, you will be fine. I'm just clearing up a few places of confusion I have heard from Trump voters.
A unifying and qualified president.
A female vice president with the skills to be the first female president.
Competence, grace, brilliance, diplomacy, dignity, and peace.
Yup, a Biden presidency sound just right.
