At the end of January I did a blog post called the Biden two-for. In the New York Times endorsement interview he said he is considering a woman VP. Fast forward to today, he has outright said he will have a woman VP and is considering his options. I pointed out in that post that this might be how we eventually get a woman president, one as a VP first.

I also said something else in that post Biden seems to be taking seriously. His administration will be the transition administration. All of the top party leaders are in their 70s. Pelosi only got the speaker job when she said she would start training a successor. Is that Adam Schiff? That looks like it to me, good choice.
Biden has said he is already looking into a transition team in case he wins. He's looking at the future of the party. A Biden win in November means filling his appointments with growing talent in the party like Pete Buttigieg (my mom pegs him for Press Secretary). It all will be full of experienced talent to pass on what they know.
Kamala Harris for Attorney General? That sounds right to me!
Booker for Housing secretary? I live close enough to Newark to have watched him transform the city. This topic matters to him and it's a strength of his.
Amy for VP? Sounds right. The talk has been Gretchen Whitmer, new Michigan governor and rising star. We need her in Michigan! She's too new for VP anyway.
Buttigieg for Press Secretary? He might work for Secretary of Defense too. But, with what he did with his campaign, he would be a great fit for Press Secretary. He also mostly agrees with Biden so talking to the press about what's going on will be easier.
Sen Menendez for Secretary of State? It's a dark horse idea. But, he has been a strong member of the Senate Foreign relations committee for a long time. He is the only democrat listed as a ranking member. He isn't president material. But, he has what's needed for rebuilding ally relationships!

What about Secretary of Defense? Thanks to 2018, there are a bunch of military veterans to choose from. I don't know much about them, other then my own representative. Rep. Sherrill has a lot of talent in a swing district. She is a Navy veteran and a strong leader. Biden is doing his research. I hope he gives her a look. A female Secretary of Defense might be another position women have never held before. But, I personally think the person serving as Secretary of Defense should have experience having served in the military. Perhaps a democratic minded admiral currently serving is an option too.
Washington Gov. Inslee to run the EPA? That sounds right to me. His entire campaign was about the environment.
There is probably as place for Joe Kennedy in a Biden administration. It's too soon for AOC. Stacey Abrams will fit somewhere. But, she isn't strong enough for Vice President. There is a place for her. I would also like to see Senator Bennet in his administration somewhere. A lot history in the senate but only in his 50s. He's ready for more.
Biden will fill in some spots with goodies from Obama's administration. I appreciate that Biden is open to helping up and comers rise up within the party. He's probably looking to congress and state governments as well as the military for hidden gems. The party's future goes through Biden. He has embraced the challenge.
