In my last post, I mentioned that we have chairs that I sit in on nice nights and drink my wine. Lately, we have a new routine. When Zach was so fresh from the oven he was still warm we started taking him outside. I used the comforter from my bed growing up and laid it on the ground, then put him on it. We would lay out there for an hour as he felt the breeze or sun (with sunblock) and discovered nature. I wanted him to love the outdoors and be active. This was the first step.
Wish Granted!!! It's mostly been so nice the last couple of weeks we go out about 7 and let him run around. He has his bedtime milk out there on the same kind of chair we got that is his size and he just loves it. I stay out when the boys go in for bathtime (Josh refuses to let me do it, he loves the bonding) then after Zach's in his PJs he comes back out. He loves it out there so much he tried to get me to go out when it rained the other day!!! He hangs out for like half and hour and calls Pop and Grandma to tell them about his day. He likes the glow of my phone so when it goes off he closes the phone thinking they hung up (old fashioned flip phone).
This is a special time for me. I love being out there as a family. We might be missing a good game on TV but Zach is growing to love being outdoors. When he's older he might join me out there with his own age appropriate drink. Neighbors come by to chat some while walking their dogs and Zach loves being a part of it, like me.
Today I ordered a robe for him (Nice one from LL Bean) in the next size up so he can be warm when he visits me outside. He never wants to go in but eventually does. I walk him in for his good night kisses. I need that time to have my thoughts. With General Anxiety Disorder your mind never shuts off so it's important I take the time to have those thoughts or I can't sleep. When it rained for three days in a row I began to go crazy and said, "how do I make it through the winter? Oh wait! I DON'T make it through the winter".
