Wine Time!

It's a classic mom joke. We all say at some point of stress "I could really use a drink!" For a lot of moms, that means wine. I don't know about you, but a favorite time of day is at night when I am done parenting. I sit back, watch some tv, and enjoy a glass of wine.

Wine is also OCD organized for me. For each season I have a wine glass and a wine brand. It's always merlot. But, the brand and class color changes. That's how I select the glass for the season. With colored glasses. That's part of what makes my wine time relaxing.

Fall - Turning Leaf
Winter - Woodbridge
Spring - Glen Ellen
Summer - Fish Eye

Turning Leaf is my favorite. That's not really a surprise. Fall is my favorite season. But, it tastes great too. I'm hoping you can figure out how I decided on this one for fall. Winter used to be Little Penguin. It was always my least favorite. It has slightly more alcohol in it making it too strong for me. Now, it's Woodbridge for winter. That makes me think of woods full of evergreens in winter. It's hard to find something in our price range for spring. I'd love Rabbit Ridge but that's too expensive. So, I went with Glen Ellen. As my mom pointed out, "glen like forest glen". That does make me think of wild bunnies. That works for me. Fish eye for summer should also be more obvious.

I start my wine between 10:15 and 10:30pm. I finish it around midnight when I go to bed. Just one glass. I like white wine cold so it's not a good choice for my needs. That's why I landed on merlot. It's great at room temperature. I used to drink a variety of types though.

I paired the wine too:

Red:                          White:
Pinot Noir                 Pinot Gregio
Sauvignon                Sauvignon Blanc
Merlot                      Chardonnay

It doesn't matter if you drink wine with dinner or before bed. It doesn't matter what your favorite type of wine is. There is just something about sitting back with a nice glass of wine. But, make sure to stop before you get tipsy!

Sometimes wine time is the most important part of the day. Like a type of meditation. When Zach was little this was the first part of the day when I felt like I was indulging. After a day of taking care of him and the home, it was a daily indulgence I refused to give up.  I didn't have a problem giving it up when pregnant. But, an advantage to having gone strait to the bottle meant I had my first post-motherhood glass of wine when he was about two or three months old. I started off with just half a glass though. Now, it just that one glass a night.

Cheers!!!
