It's frightening that an alternative news network is really the ones controlling all of this. But, that's what happens when the only thing important to your president is publicity. But, they are the key to ending the shutdown. This is why.
In December, the republican senate passed legislature to fund the government. It didn't include any money for a wall. It would have only kept things open until February. But, the shut down would have been avoided.

The measure poses an uncomfortable political problem for Mr. Trump among his far-right supporters, even though it remained unclear if the president, who has been a volatile factor throughout the spending debate, would sign such a measure without the $5 billion he has demanded for a border wall.
But the mercurial president — who just a week ago declared he would be “proud” to shut down the government over the wall funding — did not publicly announce his support for the deal, throwing the outcome into question as Trump’s conservative allies on and off Capitol Hill mounted a furious lobbying campaign to convince the president to reject the deal.

It's their voters only news source so they have to say what fox is saying for their own re-election chances. Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter were the biggest influencers in his decision. They don't work for Fox. But, Sean Hannity does. He also talks to Trump regularly and has a bigger influence on Trump and his voters. Only Fox news, specifically Sean Hannity, can talk Trump into dropping the wall.
When democrats took over the house the very first bill brought to the floor was the exact same bill the senate passed in December. It was NOT loaded with democratic agenda items. It was the republican bill that should easily have passed the senate again. McConnell decided to hold us hostage by refusing to bring it to the floor without Trump's approval.

In her remarks after House members voted her speaker Thursday, Pelosi went as far as to call the bills "Senate Republican appropriations legislation to re-open the government."
One bill passed by the House would fund eight closed U.S. departments through Sept. 30. The other would reopen the Department of Homeland Security through Feb. 8.
Even some republican senators asked McConnell to bring it to the floor. They might even have the votes to overthrow a veto on it. But, McConnell is a spineless chicken and refuses to do it. Because Fox news hasn't said it's okay yet.
That part has been in several articles all over the Washington Post and New York Times as well as many other legitimate news sources. Fox news has a different story. Then again, they always do. Because they make up news as opposed to actually report it. Which is why we are in this mess.
The house has been taking a lot of bills to the floor. Attempting to open the government and solidify backpay for federal workers not being paid. Nothing with wall funding so McConnell won't look at them.
But, he is bringing Trump's idea to the floor this week. 3 years of relief for Dreamers and exchange for the $5.7 billion for the wall. It won't make it through the house. Here is why:
1. There are a lot of ways to enter the country with or without a wall. Can you say "airplane".
2. You can dig a hole under the wall.
3. A lot of people here illegally entered legally and stayed after their visas expired.
4. 3 years is just temporary relief and then things get worse then they are now. It's a bad offer.
5. He's offering to give back what he took away.
6. He had made a deal to save DACA before. Later he changed his mind. Dude can't be trusted.
There is no use negotiating with Trump. Nothing is reliable that he says. You have to make him completely follow through on his part before doing yours. I thought he was supposed to be a master negotiator. Yes, that's sarcasm. This is how he negotiates. He doesn't pay and throws a tantrum. That was made public before he was elected. Until Fox and Hannity give him permission to actually take the reasonable deal offered by the senate and later the house, we are hostage and there isn't anything new for them to say to each other.
As one meme pointed out. Trump has to file his taxes with someone who hasn't been paid in a month. This could get interesting.
