I'm going to be very busy this week so this is my Thanksgiving post:
I say the same thing every year. I am blessed in many ways and am thankful for all of those blessings. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Zach told me the other day that it's his favorite holiday too. It's because we both feel like what we are most grateful for is our family.
I love my new family. As we've added members through the years, I am grateful to have them in our family. Thanksgiving is about time with your family and appreciating the good things in your life. A good family is the biggest gift I am giving to him.
Its his last year in elementary school. He says he is nervous about the changes. I provide him with security, stability, and predictability. A lot of that involves the people who will be at that table on Thanksgiving and the many loved ones who will be sharing their meals with others.
On Wednesday I will be serving him the Thanksgiving feast at school. For the last time. Because they only do that in elementary school. He loves it and will be sad when it's over. But, on Thursday, he will share a favorite meal with favorite people and will get to do that again next year too.
Zach was actually a part of one of my favorite Thanksgiving stories. On Thanksgiving of 2008 I announced my pregnancy with him. When my cousin walked in the door he said a usual, "what's up?" So I answered, "I'm pregnant."
His response, "That's what's up!"
It was a wonderful Thanksgiving that year. I am grateful Zach let me eat it! With a 10 week pregnancy that isn't a guarantee.
Zach has always spent holidays with family. I hope he always does. I hope we mean enough for him to always wants to be a part of it. Like my other cousin who comes from Wisconsin to New Jersey for Thanksgiving. Zach can visit with Josh's parents in the morning and have dinner with my family. A way to see a lot of family in the one day. I hope he always includes everyone like that. Because family is the best part of any holiday.
Note:
Zach as a one year old. My dad has always been someone special for him.
